As longtime visitor to Australian shores – either on tour or as a holidaymaker – since Alan Thompson made the fateful decision a few years back to relocate down under permanently he’s managed to maintain his career as a revered name in the house music scene. The motive behind Alan’s change of scenery was “lifestyle”, and since he packed his bags and left the UK he hasn’t looked back. In spring, 2005, Alan launched ‘Housexy’, the newest mix series for Ministry Of Sound, and he’s also held down successful residencies locally for Defected and DTPM, as well as touring the country regularly. His profile as a DJ is enviable, having found favour within both the gay and straight club scenes throughout his career.

shades of grey

The project Shades of Gray is the brainchild of Beef Records managers Michal Ruzicka (dj Schwa) and Nick West. Founded at the end of 2006 the collaboration was developed to reflect Michal and Nick’s diverse musical backgrounds and tastes.

Their first Vinyl release – Simplicity (released in 2007), drew attention from Djs and producers such as Hernan Cattaneo (Renaissance), D-Nox (Sprout), Nick and John Dalagelis (Audio Therapy), Pena (Flow), Guy J (Electribe/Mutekki) and more. Early this year 4 of their tracks were picked up by Mutekki label founder Juergen Dreissen. These tracks will be released on a 12” vinyl with German label Plus Minus (aka Mutekki - home label of D-Nox & Beckers). The EP will be released very soon and includes a killer peak time remix by Harthouse producer Boris Brejcha (aka Anna).

The Shades of Gray live show is an unusual blend of house, minimal, techno and progressive styles. SOG remix their tracks on stage by layering deep grooves with intricate percussion and melody. Always keeping the sound fluid by taking the listener to unexpected places.

In 2008 there are more Shades of Gray releases in the pipe line on BEEF records, Mutekki, Moonbeam digital and other labels.

Technically gifted, Swedish born Tomas Hedberg is a high profile DJ living in the party capital of the world Ibiza. Tomas..s career began when he was asked to cover for a DJ who failed to turn up to a famous Ibiza bar. From the moment he touched the decks, his exceptional mixing skills came naturally to him. Tomas since has never looked back with his talent and music passion taking him to a level of success that exceeds the normal life span of a dj.

Tomas is one of the most well-known and respected djs in Ibiza. Besides the highest profile summer gigs and residencies at Pacha, Manumission, Eden, El Divino, and guest appearances at the islands highly respected Underground and super club Space, Tomas is known for driving the local scene. He has held winter residencies at the islands most happening parties, from Pacha’s Fiasco to his 4 yr long residency at Guarana in Santa Eularia.
